Our children's ministry has as its goal to assist parents in training up their children to love, know, and follow the Lord Jesus Christ. We do this by teaching them God's Word and by being examples of the Word to them in all that we do.
Scripture is clear that the responsibility of teaching our children about God is to be upon the parents, and that we are to be constantly training our children from God's Word. Our Sunday School classes are designed to supplement and further encourage what parents are eaching their children at home, NOT to be the only form of teaching from God's Word that children receive.
We offer Sunday School classes for ages 2 years through 6th grade, using Discipleland curriculum. The main assignment of this curriculum is to "make disciples" just as Jesus instructed His followers before He left earth to be reunited with His Father in heaven. Discipleland helps to equip children with practical skills for using God's Word, relating to people, and living out their faith in the world. It is very solid in God's Word, Scripture memory,a nd practical application. If you wish to know more about Discipleland, you may visit their website at www.DiscipleLand.com.
For the first three Sunday's of each month children are encouraged through worship and Bible Teaching with their parents in our regular services. Once a month, on the 4th Sunday (unless this conflicts with a holiday), we have a special Children's Church. One for ages 4 years through Kindergarten, with very age appropriate teaching, and interaction, and another for 1st through 6th grade, which is also age appropriate with group interaction. In the past we have chosen to do topical studies that will last a full year. We just finished a study about the Tabernacle and how the elements in it point us to Christ. Before that, we learned all the books in the Bible through a cartoon visual and through learning key words to each book. Sometimes we have special guests in our Children's Church , such as our puppets, clowns, or even a guest speaker.
Our puppet ministry meets each Wednesday to learn songs and skits that we use in Children's Church, Vacation Bible School, and other ministry opportunities. This is a great group and are taught puppetry by Donna Newcom who is highly trained in this area. Donna also works with a small group of kids who are learning how to do Clown Ministry as well.
