We've been killing more babies every day than the terrorists killed in the destruction of the Twin Towers in New York City. We've completely thumbed our nose at God's standards of sexual conduct - with both our embracing of heterosexual immorality (sex outside of marriage) and homosexuality. Honesty and integrity have been cast aside for profit in the financial sector - and for power in the public one. With all this happening do we really think that anyone's remedy for our current financial judgment is going to work? I grasp and understand that issue with our debt and spending. But believe me when I say that the debt pales in comparison to the problems we face concerning innocent blood being spilt by abortion. We have surpassed killing 40 million babies - and still churn out 4000+ more a day. Recently promises were made that our Health Care Bill would not provide for abortions - yet we were lied to because it does. And that issue did not even merit a single word last night - in anyone's address. The wrath that continues to build concerning sexual immorality - both heterosexual and homosexual - in our nation was also unmentioned. Now that our military has become a proving ground for the immoral social engineering of our governing officials - I'm sure that the moral and fighting efficiency of those units will reflect God's blessings as well. I tremble when I realize that these sins are not those which are arguable Scripturally - they are plainly seen and yet ignored. I would like to suggest that although we take time to communicate with our elected officials - that we honestly grasp that they don't have the guts to address the two massive moral elephants in the midst of their chambers. Therefore we must turn elsewhere for a remedy for what is ailing our nation in 2011.
If we truly want to see our nation restored and rescued from its current moral malaise we are going to have to forget Washington and hit our knees in the more powerful place in America - the church. There is no other hope for us. Neither the Democrats or the Republicans - or the Tea Party - are going to turn this thing around. There will have to be a radical moral change to go with any radical financial or political one. Who really cares if our financial sector rebounds if we continue killing babies for convenience? Does God care? Will He be impressed with the jobs report? Will that be enough to stave off judgment for the millions of gallons of innocent blood that have been spilt by the abortion industry? The man who spoke for the Republican response, and the women who spoke for the Tea Party said some good things concerning our financial woes - but no one is addressing the mountain of sin for which our nation is responsible. It is not that they are not asking forgiveness for our land and its complicity in these monstrous sins - these things are not even on the table for discussion. May God have mercy upon us - and raise up a national prophet who will speak the truth in this hour! We've had enough of the prophets of profit - who care more about you having your best life now - than you having a broken heart over the sin of our nation which is written down with an iron stylus before a holy God. We need a man who will display for us our sin as a nation -and who will give a clarion call for repentance and revival. That was the message that needed to be given by all three who spoke last night. I honestly was not expecting it - but that still does not mean that I do not grieve its absence in the public ear this day afterwards.
Reflecting on all this I truly believe our nation would have been served better by someone stepping to the podium and reading 2 Chronicles 7:14 and then saying, "May God have mercy on the United States of America!" Oh, they also should have added one other thing, they should have said . . . Let us pray!
